Microsoft® Office 2007 - Office Open XML (OOXML)
Extract from Wordplay the video demonstrationSee how a complex scenario of extracting data from Office 2007
documents, processing them and then using the processed data can be
easily accomplished using <oXygen/>.

can dynamically create tables and charts in Excel 2007 files using
imported XML data.
Office Open XML (OOXML)
The 2007 Microsoft® Office adopted an XML-based file format
for Microsoft® Office Excel 2007, Microsoft®
Office Word 2007, and Microsoft® Office PowerPoint 2007. The
new file format, called Office Open XML Format benefits from the XML
capability to be read across different applications and
platforms.
<oXygen/> XML Editor allows you to extract, validate, edit and
process the XML data stored in Office 2007 files and any other ZIP-based
archive. These capabilities allow developers to use data from Office
2007 documents together with validation and transformations (using XSLT
or XQuery) to other file formats. Validation is done using the latest
ECMA XML Schemas.
The Archive Browser view
Now you can transform, validate and perform many other operations on
files inside an archive. When selecting an URL for a specific operation
like transformation or validation you can click the Browse for archive
file button to navigate and choose the file from a certain
archive.
An archive opened in the Archive Browser is displayed like a tree
structure of files and folders. You can easily modify this structure by
adding, removing or renaming files and folders or edit files.
Editing Office Open XML files
<oXygen/> offers a complete framework that provides a powerful
support for editing and validating documents from the Office Open XML
zipped package. The NVDL schema can be easily customized to allow user
defined extension schemas for use in the OOXML files. See the Markup Compatibility and Extensibility Ecma PDF document for
more details.
You can easily create new OOXML documents using the document templates
provided by <oXygen/> for Microsoft® 2007 Excel, PowerPoint
and Word.
Comparing Office Open XML files
With the <oXygen/> Directories Comparison tool you can compare and
merge Office 2007 (OOXML) files or other ZIP-based archives seamlessly.
The archive files are presented as directories allowing the usual
comparison and merge operations inside them.
Other supported archive formats
<oXygen/> XML Editor also supports browsing, processing and
modification of files from other ZIP archives like:

OpenDocument
(ODF)
The OpenDocument format (ODF) is a free and open file format
for electronic office documents, such as spreadsheets, charts,
presentations and word processing documents. The standard was
developed by the Open Office XML technical committee of the
Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information
Standards (OASIS) consortium and it is based on the XML format
originally created and implemented by the OpenOffice.org office
suite. The most common filename extensions used for ODF are: ODT
(text), ODS (spreadsheet), ODP (presentation), ODG (graphics),
ODF (mathematical formulas). <oXygen/> offers
support for code insight and validation of documents inside ODF
packages. -
Java packages (EAR, WAR, JAR)
The JAR file is a Java Archive, the WAR file is a WebArchive
and the EAR file is an Enterprise Archive.
